The other week I sat down with the creator and owner, Rachel, of James Robert John nail polish and got to try out a couple of different colors. I wish everyone could meet Rachel face to face and hear her inspiring story and motivation for the company. Her passion for the nail polish company is amazing. Every aspect of the polish down to the shape of the bottle and ingredients were carefully chosen and all have a meaning. All of JRJ polish is 5-free and approved by PETA, meaning it does not contain formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, and camphor. On top of that, the nail polish, bottles, boxes, everything is made in the USA, and a good amount of that is in Columbus. The next cool part about the polish is the actual bottle. It is a cube shape so that it can sit easily and has a thick handle to make painting your nails on the couch and watching TV completely do able.

My first color that I tried was “This is it”, on my toes. My toenails go through a lot, from all the heels I wear, the many trips to the dog park, to cramming them into running shoes on a hot and humid day, but this color and the polish has stayed on beautifully and looks like I got it professionally done. The color I used on my fingernails is “Barre & Brunch” which I love for summer, it makes me look tan and is a bright vibrant color. Both these colors have been going strong for a whole week! I’m in awe. And incase the colors in the collection aren’t exactly what you were looking for, she offers customized colors for bridesmaid parties, baby shower gender reveals, you name it! Literally you get to name the polish color and get the bottles for whatever event your heart desires.

If you live in Columbus head over to J.Bentley Studio & Spa, Snow House gift Shop at Igloo Letterpress, The Boutique Truck, or Simply Vague to pick out a bottle to fall in love with or, you can order online at the JRJ website.

Look for more JRJ polish colors in my upcoming shoots!

And the final look for my wedding series with Vernacular is this adorable garden dress. I love this dress for the weddings in between beach and black tie, the daytime or garden weddings. The pattern is floral but a bit different as it shows the flowers roots, which I love. I’m also a huge fan of the drop waist style, I think it is adorable, flatters your legs, and fun to twirl around in, which for dancing at a wedding is a must!  This dress would be great for a summer wedding because it can be worn during the day and then into the evening, especially if the reception is outside. Pair with bright blue shoes and you got yourself a cute bright blue summery dress.

IMG_6593 IMG_6595 IMG_6623 IMG_6656You think you have wedding attire all figured out until you get invited to a destination wedding on the beach. Beach weddings can actually be easier. You can wear a more versatile outfit that can be worn afterwards. This hawaiian dress, from Vernacular, would be a great choice for a beach wedding. You get the casual beachy feel but the length, back design and fabric make it nice enough for someone’s special day. Beaches can get a bit breezy which is why I paired this light weight scarf for a cover up if you get chilled during the ceremony. Stick with sandals or a nice pair of flip flops, stilettos and sand don’t mesh. Aloha and enjoy the beach!

Wedding season is in full swing, which means the dress hunt is on. What to wear to a wedding varies, but more times than not when it is a black tie wedding, they will note that on the invitation. Men have it a bit easier, they can just go rent a tux, but women get the joy of going out and buying a gown. An alternative option to buying a gown, that you might not get a chance to wear again, is trying a black jumpsuit. This jumpsuit, from Vernacular, would be a perfect choice for a black tie wedding. It can be dressed up with gold and silver jewelry along with high heels. Then after the wedding if you have another event you can dress it down with more casual jewelry. Don’t be afraid to try different outfits for black tie weddings, as long as you are dressed nicely in long pants or a dress you are good to go!

Happy Summer! Now that it is hot and humid out, your wardrobe will be changing as well. I usually go for clothing that is a bit looser so you can catch a breeze and don’t have to hide in air conditioning all day. I found this pair of uniquely shaped earrings at Meijer and was inspired to put this outfit together from there. The earrings are just the right size and shape to be worn both as a daytime and nighttime accessory. Here I worn them as a daytime accessory to spruce up the outfit a bit. It is a perfect outfit for a day out to brunch or walk in the park. I loved how the shorts were loose and a light material which made them super comfortable. With the blouse and shorts being loose, I grabbed a belt to help give me some shape to the outfit. And guess what, this look was all under $50! All could be mixed with other pieces of clothing as well. The blouse would be perfect with jean shorts for a more casual look and the shorts paired with a white shirt for another summer look. The possibilities are endless.
